ABOUT 

The Papua New Guinea Chess Federation (PNGCF) is the national governing body for Chess in the country. Its mission is to promote Chess at all levels of society as an effective tool to enhance social and intellectual development.

• Mission: The PNGCF strives to make chess accessible to everyone, regardless of gender, class, or social status. They view chess as a positive influence on education and critical thinking.

• Competitions: The Federation organizes national chess championships, which are crucial for determining national rankings and selecting the official team for the prestigious World Chess Olympiad and other international tournaments.

• Structure: The PNGCF is governed by a Constitution and manages membership categories, including junior membership to encourage youth participation.

• Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE): The PNGCF is a direct member of the World Chess Federation (FIDE), which provides their players with international FIDE ratings and allows them to compete in world championships and the Chess Olympiad.
